Who is Jesus?
Jesus asked his disciples, Who am I? Who is Jesus? It is a great question to ask yourself too, Who am I? For me, those answers are connected. I am a follower of Jesus. I am a servant of God.
In today’s reading of Matthew 15 and 16 this questions comes to the disciples. Some people believe Jesus is John the Baptist back from the dead. I have no idea if they believe in reincarnation or what but they were both about the same age. That part is a little weird. Elijah, the prophet of earlier times that was carried of to heaven in 2 Kings 2.

Which words best describe Jesus in your life?
Peter Gets it Right
Here Peter gets it right. Matthew 16:16-16, 15 “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” 16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” Jesus goes on to say that this the foundation to His church.

Mothers prayer for her daughter. What is your prayer today?
In Chapter 15 a Canaanite woman gets it right. She is looking for healing for her daughter. She calls Jesus the “son of David.” She asked for mercy. She realizes all she needs is a crumb from God to give her child freedom and life. The smallest bit of God’s power will save.
Psalm 88
It is amazing how clearly the God of the Hebrew Bible is the same as Jesus. The first and second verse of Psalm 88 Lord, you are the God who saves me;
day and night I cry out to you.
2 May my prayer come before you;
turn your ear to my cry.

Lord, you save. Could you come to my rescue today?
The lord, Jesus is the one who saves. Who am I? The one who needs rescue. I am the one who is crying out like Peter on the water, the Canaanite with a troubled child. My human efforts ar not working. God your supernatural love and grace of the Messiah, Jesus, are wonderful!
We all have to decide who is Jesus? You have to know who you are? In my life, those are connected. My identity comes from my creator, my savior.
