Jesus understood the harsh and cruel nature of life and people. I know some people think Jesus was naive. It is irresponsible to believe that someone who is innocent is naive. He was not part of the evil but He did oppose it’s abuse.
When Jesus called people to follow Him, it was a challenge to live a life in opposition to the ways of the world. Some people view Christians as pushovers, individuals who should be set to the side as weak.
Tag you are it!
Jesus invites us to tag team with Him. How amazing – God wants to work with us! I loved working with my father as a child. That was the best part of life. It was always exciting to go with Daddy on a call to treat horses and other animals.
Listen to Matthew’s description of what Jesus told him during his first internship assignment (Matthew 10:16-17): “16 “I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves. 17 Be on your guard…”
Hold your horses was a reality in my childhood.
My dad would say, “You can handle this. Take hold of this stallion and lean into him. We will be done in a minute.”
I felt such pride, significance, and self-worth. You should feel the same. Jesus invites all of His followers to step into a dangerous place with the answer which heals and brings life.
I don’t know your calendar today but He does. Have no misgivings about your life and this world. Jesus knows the serious nature of your invitation to intern under Him.
