God’s word is compelling.
God speaks, and the world comes into being. He speaks again and again, and each time it brings life and blessing. Reading Genesis 1-3 is impressive. Then we flip over to Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, and we see God using His word to direct the outcome. God’s word is essential to God’s plans.
God is with us through His word
21 She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” 22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet:
23 “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son,
and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us).
God works through His word.
God’s word is how he works in our world. When you and I read the Bible, we are welcoming God’s word into our hearts, minds, and way of thinking. He wants us to receive his blessing and life. Mary and Joseph welcomed the promise, and it blessed them and us.
Today welcome God’s word in your life. John said Jesus was the word come to life in John 1. Let the good news of Jesus be planted in the soil of your heart. The Good News is that God loves you. Jesus is his solution for evil and sin. God’s word is powerful.
Prayer: Lord, help me to receive your word. Please help me understand and obey your direction toward hope and life. Thank you for being with me.
