Welcome to meeting with Jesus daily. What if you could see Him as your leader. It is interesting to me that Matthew starts his record of Jesus’ life with “This is the genealogy of Jesus the Messiah the son of David, the son of Abraham.” In our world, we do background checks and credit checks to prove someone is qualified.

When you read through Jesus’ family what does it tell you? David was a king, a father, an adulterer, a murderer, and a songwriter. Jesus had notable women like Rahab, a non-Jewish believer in God and reformed prostitute, and Ruth, a famine refugee, and foreigner.

Take some time to reflect on Jesus’ family tree and why it is so important to His story. If we are going on an adventure with Him, it is crucial to know what kind of man is guiding us. How well do you want to know Him?

How does your family tree compare to what you know about Jesus?

PRAYER: Jesus, I want to make this journey because I long for an adventurous life. What I know about You is fantastic. People’s lives were changed. I hear of folks doing miracles in Your name. Men were able to overcome their past lives. Women gave love and hope like candy. That is the kind of freedom and life I desire flowing through me. Please teach me like one of Your followers. For Your reputation’s sake, I ask. – Amen
